How to find IDRIS
IDRIS GPS coordinates : N 48° 42' 25" - E 2° 10' 32"
IDRIS is located 25 km south-west of Paris, in the Essonne
department (91), in the city of Orsay, on the campus of the science
faculty of University Paris 11.
Located at the edge of the plateau of Saclay, its neighbors
are the Institut Supérieur d'Optique "SupOptique" (building
503), the LIMSI (building 508) and the Aimé Cotton
laboratory (building 505).
If you are coming by car
From Paris
- From the pont de Sèvres (southwest Paris):
- Take the N118 highway, in the direction of
"Chartres-Orleans".
- Then take the exit number 9 toward "Centre
Universitaire".
- When you get to the roundabout, take the third exit to
"Parc-Club Orsay-Université".
- Then follow the red signs to building 506 and/or
"SupOptique".
- From the porte d'Orléans :
- Take the A6 Lyon motorway.
- Take the following branches : "Bordeaux-Nantes"
- then "Palaiseau"
- then "Bievres - Versailles - Cité
scientifique
- Igny".
- Continue on the D36 road toward Saclay,
- Take a left toward "Orsay - Centre universitaire",
- Pass two roundabouts. Go over the N118 highway.
- At the third roundabout, take the fourth exit on your
right to "Parc-Club Orsay-Université".
- Then follow the red signs to building 506 and/or
"SupOptique".
From the country
- On the A11 or A10 motorway (from Chartres) :
- Take the direction of "Versailles - Paris-Portes de St
Cloud - Les Ulis".
- Get on the N118 highway. Take the exit "Centre
Universitaire ".
- Take the bridge over the N118 highway.
- Drive on to a roundabout.
- On the roundabout, take the fourth exit to "Parc-Club
Orsay-Université".
- Then follow the red signs to building 506 and/or
"SupOptique".
- On the A6 motorway (from Lyon) :
- When you reach Evry, take the N104 highway, also known
as
the "Francilienne" in the direction of Versailles.
- Then take the N118 highway in the direction of
"Paris-Porte de St Cloud".
- Take the exit number 9 to "Centre universitaire -
Grandes
écoles - Gif sur Yvette".
- Take the bridge over the N118 highway. Drive on to a
roundabout.
- On the roundabout, take the fourth exit to "Parc-Club
Orsay-Université".
- Then follow the red signs to building 506 and/or
"SupOptique".
Useful links if you are coming by car
If you are coming by public transport
You can go to Idris by public transport. Take the B line of
the
RER. The direction is Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse if
you are coming from
Paris. Get off either at the station "Le Guichet" or at
"Orsay ville".
- From the station Le guichet.
- If you are coming from Paris, when you are on the
platform at the station, choose exit number 2 to "Rue de Versailles"
- and cross the railway by the underpass.
- Then, getting out of the station, go to the parking
area
on your right, 30 m away.
- There you will find a bus stop for the lines 269-002
and
06-07.
- Take the bus 269-002 in the direction of Saclay or the
bus 06-07 in the direction of Orsay-Ville
- In both case get off at the "De Broglie"
stop .
You can also come by foot to IDRIS from Le guichet. This is a 15-20 mn
long walk:
- From the parking area, go up the "rue de Versailles".
- Take a left on the "rue de la colline".
- Go all the way up (this is a very steep street).
- Then take a right on the "chemin du bois des rames".
- Then follow the red signs to building 506 and/or
"SupOptique".
- From the station "Orsay Ville" :
- walk down on "Elisa Desjobert" street toward the Yvette
river.
- You will find a bus stop for the line 06-07 . The
frequency of buses should be one every 20 minutes approximately.
- Take the bus 06-07 in the direction of "Plateau".
- Get off at the "De Broglie" stop or the
"Belvédère"
stop.

- From Orly airport : take the automatic subway Orly-Val to
Antony station, then take the B line of the RER in the direction of
Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse.
- From Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport : take the B line of
the RER in the direction of
Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse.
