The IDRIS-TGCC interconnection

The interactive machines of the IDRIS and TGCC computing centres have access to each other. The IDRIS machines, Adapp, Ergon, Ada and Turing, are accessibles from TGCC via the ssh protocol as in the following example:

  -bash-3.00$ ssh -X login_idris@adapp.idris.fr
  Password:xxxxxx
  ***********************************************************************
  *                                                                     *
  * Orsay      CNRS / IDRIS - Frontale  -  adapp.idris.fr      France   *
  *                                                                     *
  ***********************************************************************

The IDRIS machines (Ada, Turing and Ergon) are no longer in the TGCC network filters. Therefore, to transfer files between IDRIS and TGCC, each user must first send an e-mail to TGCC to request that the IDRIS machines be put in their filters:

For a connection from IDRIS to TGCC, refer to the TGCC Web site documentation to obtain information relative to the accepted connection protocols. The protocols of file transfers between TGCC and IDRIS are those based on the ssh protocol (i.e. scp, sftp and rsync). Using the ssh command, the average observed sustained throughput during file transfers between the two centres is about 10 MB/s.
