Stoppage of the Jean Zay supercomputer in order to finalize the installation of the extension

Update September 9th: The machine is back online.

Update September 2rd: The maintenance had to be stopped due to technical issues. The machine is back online one day earlier than initially scheduled. A new technical stoppage is planned on September 8th to finalize the operation.

The installation of the extension of Jean Zay (351 four-GPU supplementary accelerated nodes, cf. message of 18 June 2020) by HPE began last July. To finalize the integration of the new materials, a technical stoppage of the entire Jean Zay configuration for a provisional period of two days, from Tuesday, September 1 at 8 a.m. to Thursday morning, September 3 is necessary.

In consequence, execution of jobs in the wait list will be progressively suspended beginning on 28 August (starting with the QoS having the largest time limits) in order to empty the machine and will not begin again until the machine restarts with the new extended configuration.

We apologize in advance for this interruption in our services which, in close collaboration with HPE, we have tried to limit to a strict minimum.

The complete new configuration of Jean Zay (28 Pflop/s) will be open to all users for the A9 call of October 2020.
