Launching of full deployment of the expanded configuration of the IDRIS Turing supercomputer.

As per the announcement of 18th November 2014, two supplementary cabinets have been added to the Blue Gene/Q Turing supercomputer. This new configuration, launched into full deployment on the 28th November, has increased the Blue Gene/Q hardware to almost 100,000 cores. This expansion has placed the IDRIS Turing as 42nd in the worldwide supercomputer classification.

GENCI (Grand Équipment National de Calcul Intensif) and the CNRS made the decision a few weeks ago to expand the configuration of the IBM Blue Gene/Q.

In addition to expanding the resources which it offers to users, this enlarged configuration allows IDRIS to strengthen its position in the massively parallel computing domain, key to the future of high performance calculations.
