TINA: Restore a previous version from a precise date

This procedure concerns searching for a previous version of a file from a precise date.

By clicking on the cross (+) to the left of your login in the tree hierarchy, you will see which of your files are present at that moment on the disk cache.

Now we are going to search for a previous version using a given date.
If you know the date when the file was present on the system, you can view the file system of that date.

Here is the Time Navigation area:

To view the file system on a past date:

  1. In the Time Navigation area, click on Past. The file tree will be displayed showing only the directories and files backed up in the past.

  2. To select a specific date in the past, click on the small Calendar button (to the right): The window “Date Selection - Select a Date” will appear.
  3. You may then select the month, year, day, and time. If you worked that day, enter a time at the end of the day.

Alternatively, you can click on the Select a date button to obtain the Select from last backups option and you can choose a backup date from the list.
  4. When you have selected the date, click on OK : The file tree which existed on your selected date will then appear.

  5. Look through the file tree to find your searched file(s).
  6. Tick the file(s) you want restored (tick the small box to the left of the file icon) and select Restore - Run in the menu bar.
If you first wish to verify that the file(s) were deleted (before restoring them), click on Present and then on Show deleted files: The deleted files will be shown with hatched icons.

  7. When Restore - Run has been selected, the window Restore - Parameters will appear.

  8. If the parameter default options are not what you want, you need to select the appropriate options:
The Restore Destination default option is the Original Directory. If you do not wish to return the deleted files to their original directories, you must specify a different destination directory : Select Other Directory. When you have finished selecting the options, click on OK to validate the operation. The window Restore Information will appear and show the progress of the restoration.

It can take from a few minutes to several hours for the restoration to begin (loading of cassettes into the robot). If this takes too long, consult "disponibilité des machines" (machine availability) on our WEB site.

The message Information - Restore complete will appear when the operation has been completed.
  9. Confirm this by clicking on OK. Then close the Restore Information window. The restoration procedure is now finished.
